How Tag Sale Finds works

What happens when you use the site, and what we keep about you.

Setting up a sale

You sign in, give your sale a name and dates, and add the things you're selling with a photo and a price. Shoppers can't see any of it until you put your sale online. You can do that by hand, or pick a day and time and it goes online by itself.

Signing in without a password

Instead of a password, we email you a 6-digit code each time you sign in. The code works for 15 minutes. We keep only a scrambled copy of it (a “hash”), so nobody can read the code back out of our records, including us.

Use the same email address every time. Whichever phone or computer you sign in on, your sales will be there.

Staying signed in

Once you're in, your browser keeps a small file called a cookie so you don't need a new code every visit. It lasts 30 days. It's the only cookie we set, and all it does is tell us it's you. Tapping “Sign out” removes it.

Your address

Your full address stays hidden until you choose to show it. Until then, shoppers see only your street name and town, like “Elm St area, Southington”. You can show it whenever you like, or set a time and it appears by itself. Once it's showing, shoppers get a Directions button that opens their map app.

Photos

Your phone shrinks each photo before it uploads, which saves your data and makes the upload quicker. Once your sale is online, anyone looking at it can see the photos. When you remove a photo or delete an item, the photo is deleted from our storage too.

Sold and on hold

When you mark something sold or on hold, shoppers see the change the next time they open or refresh your page.

Who else is involved

The site runs on Cloudflare, which also stores our database and your photos. The sign-in emails are sent by Mailgun. Each one handles only what it needs for that job.

The formal version of this is our privacy policy. Questions go to help@tagsalefinds.com.
